Provider Bush Beans
50-60 days. Provider bush beans are early, heavy yielding plants that produce delicious 5-6" pods with purple seeds. The beans are stringless when harvested young. The seeds can be sown earlier than many other varieties due to the plant’s high tolerance of cooler soils and climates. They are great for steaming, frying, canning, and pickling and store well. The perfect bush bean plant for home gardens due to their compact size. No support needed.

Growing Instructions
Direct sow the seeds outdoors after the average last frost date when soil temperatures reach 55°F. Seeds will not germinate well in soil cooler than 50°F. Sow in fertile, well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0-7.0 in an area that receives full sunlight. To speed germination, seeds can be soaked in warm water for up to ½ hour. For a continuous harvest, sow seeds every 2 weeks for up to 3 months before the average first frost date. Thin the plants when they are 2” tall.
Keep the soil moist, but not wet. Plants may require more frequent watering during hot or dry weather. Apply 2-3” of mulch around the base of the plants to suppress weeds, retain moisture and keep the roots cool. Beans are a nitrogen-fixing plant. Do not add nitrogen to the soil. It will encourage green growth instead of flowers. If necessary, fertilizer higher in phosphorous and potassium can be used to encourage blooms.
To harvest, carefully pinch or cut off the beans to avoid damaging the plant. Harvesting the plants often encourages flowering. The beans will be more tender when picked early. Store them in the refrigerator crisper in a plastic bag or a container for up to 1 week. Green beans can be blanched and frozen for longer storage.
